BIOFACH and VIVANESS 2014 were again strongly supported by 42,445 trade buyers and visitors (41,794, 2013) from 135 countries (international share 44%) attending the 25th anniversary of  the World’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food and the International Trade Fair for Natural Personal Care in Nuremberg, Germany, 12-15 February.

Both events impressed once again with their four-day presentation of varied, innovative and high-quality products from the food and health & beauty sectors the 2,235 exhibitors (2,413 in 2013)from 76 countries (international share 70%) shared on a net area of 42,328 m².

The top 5 participating countries were Germany, Austria, Italy, France and the Netherlands. The special focus in 2014 was on the future of the organic food industry and the key theme Organic 3.0.

An impressive sector that constantly inspires with its ecological view and also in terms of its economic and innovative power.”

Exhibitors positive response to show

All exhibitors spoken with had a very positive response to the show, although some saw less traffic on some days this year, also in 2013 compared with previous years.

Helene Birk of Organic Denmark: “Made very good connections with retailers from Sweden, Holland, Germany, Whole Foods USA and Europe and Russian customers.”

Markus Pandur, Uhtco EU: “The quality of the buyers was very good. We always get a good response despite numbers of visitors quieter this year on the 3rd day.”

Seigo Okada, Japan Gold: “By the 3rd day happy with the quality and mix of new and existing customers – always the best show for us, as we can meet our European clients.”

Patricia Tranvouz of Sopexa France, organizer of the French pavilion: “Everbody is happy, visitors like the cooking show and the suppliers are seeing a good quality of international visitors.”

Sylvain Dufour of Fruit D’Or Canada:  “Europe visitor numbers was very good, but would have liked more Asian, international buyers; had a good show and is a great place to meet with our customers.”

Pana Barbounis, Pana Chocolate, Australia: “Had an excellent show again. Met new distributors and retailers.”

Aurelie Servol of Les Jardins De Gaia, France: “Have been able to meet most of our customers and met potential new buyers  – we’re happy with the show and will be here again.”

The anniversary guests were full of praise for the exhibition duo. 91% of the exhibitors at BIOFACH and VIVANESS rate their overall success positively, according to the result of the survey by an independent institute. 97% of the visitors were satisfied with the products offered at the two exhibitions.

Both at the congress and in the exhibition halls, exhibitors and visitors showed an intensive interest and commitment to the focus topic Organic 3.0, which had nine presentations. This was organized jointly by IFOAM, the international patron of the world’s leading exhibition, BÖLW (German Federation of the Organic Food Industry), the national supporting organization, and BIOFACH.

The most popular was the congress paper on the Organic 3.0 Trend and Potential Study by future researcher Hanni Rützler, which was attended by 260 participants. Save the date! The organic sector from around the world meets in Nüremberg next year from 11–14 February.
