Frustrated with the lack of natural soda options on the market, Esteban began concocting his own creations, sweetened with agave nectar, an all-natural sweetener extracted from the agave plant, and serving them in his restaurant in 2005. With positive customer reviews and high demand for his sodas, Esteban began bottling Oogavé to share with the masses in 2009 and Oogavé organic soda rolled off the production line heading for natural grocery stores and restaurants around Colorado.

Mr Merrell said that aside from the high cost, Agave is an ideal sweetener. “It is made without any chemicals whatsoever, rates very low on the glycemic index and is absorbed slowly by the body,” he said.
“Oogavé doesn’t have the same ‘sugar high and crash’ effects as conventional sodas, and all products are organic, vegan, gluten free and kosher.
