Expoalimentaria 2012, September 19-21, expects almost 600 Peruvian and foreign exhibitors to meet 28,000 visitors from the food & beverages sectors at the new 20,500 sqm fairgrounds of Las Palmas air base. The show expects exhibitors from Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Canada the Netherlands and Switzerland and top international buyers from Brazil, the United States, and the EU and as far as the Middle East. The program includes the 5th Forum for Organic Products, the 2nd International Seminar “Emprende Peru”, the 7th Seafood & Fisheries Convention and the new Andean Grains and the Cacao and Coffee pavilions. The Innova Pack forum for packaging solutions is also new this year. Expoalimentaria is not only a showcase for the Agri-Food sector (55%), but also includes Machinery & Equipment (17%), Industry Services (14%), Seafood & Fisheries (8%), Packaging (3%) and Government Organizations and Institutions (3%). “The main reason to visit Expoalimentaria is to make new foreign and local contacts”, said Karla Vivanco, coordinator of international participants. “Peru is the world’s No.1 exporter of organic coffee, specialty coffees, banana, paprika and asparagus and No.2 exporter of organic cacao, and enjoys Free Trade Agreements with 20 of the strongest world economies”.
